Tampa, FL : Two people killed in wrong-way crash on a Tampa Bay area street on Thursday, Aug 13, 2015

Authorities say two people are dead following a wrong-way crash on a Tampa Bay area street.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office reports that 20-year-old Eric Sanders was driving an SUV north in a southbound lane near Tampa on Thursday. One oncoming car managed to swerve out of the SUV's path, but a second car, driven by 53-year-old Catherine Fleming, hit the SUV head-on. Another car that had been behind Fleming also became involved in the crash.

Officials say Fleming died at the scene, and Sanders died later at a hospital. The driver of the third vehicle involved in the crash didn't report any injuries.

The crash remains under investigation. Deputies weren't immediately saying why Sanders was driving into oncoming traffic.
