CHICOPEE, MA : At least 1 injured in crash on Massachusetts Turnpike in Chicopee on Tuesday, 19th February 2019

The Massachusetts State Police are at the scene of a serious car crash on Interstate-90 westbound.

At least one person was injured in the crash that occurred at about 9:30 p.m. The right lane the highway is closed as police and medical personnel respond, police said.

The driver of an SUV lost control of the vehicle, left the road and drove down an embankment. The car came to rest against trees at the bottom of the slope, police said.

Police have released few details of the crash and did not say if more than one vehicle was involved or how many people were injured.

The State Department of Transportation is reported a slowdown on the Massachusetts Turnpike due to the crash, but by 11:15 p.m. the department’s real-time traffic map was not showing any delays.
