Sarasota, FL : Motorcyclist injured in Sarasota accident on Sunday, 22nd August, 2016

A motorcyclist sustained serious injuries Sunday night in Sarasota County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

According to reports, Earl Dave Gipson, 41, of Punta Gorda, was traveling southbound on Honore Avenue, approaching the intersection with Laurel Road, on his 2011 Suzuki motorcycle. Gipson apparently failed to negotiate a curve in the road and traveled across the grass median and into the northbound lanes. The motorcycle then struck a curb, throwing Gipson from the vehicle.

Gipson sustained serious injuries and was transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital.

The FHP reports Gipson was wearing a helmet and that alcohol was not involved in the accident.
