Police say a woman reportedly under the influence of drugs operated a vehicle that struck a pedestrian Wednesday.
The incident happened just before 9 a.m. Wednesday on Beechmont Avenue at Five Mile Road in Anderson Township.
Police say Mary Corson, 49, of Anderson, was walking east on the south side of Beechmont Avenue when a 1998 Toyota Camry operated by Constance Marziale struck her.
Marziale, 55, of Silverton, was traveling eastbound on Beechmont Avenue in the left lane when she changed lanes and drove off the roadway, striking two utility poles and an embankment before striking Corson.
Corson was transported to University of Cincinnati Medical Center with serious injuries. Marziale was treated at Anderson Mercy with minor injuries.
The roadway was shut down for a period of time as officers cleaned up the scene and Duke Energy repaired the damaged poles.
Police say drugs are believed to be a factor in the crash. Marziale is expected to be charged with aggravated vehicular assault, a third-degree felony, operating a vehicle under the influence, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to maintain reasonable control.
The incident remains under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office's Traffic Safety Unit.
