Motorcyclist killed in crash near Las Vegas Nevada

A motorcyclist struck the side of a vehicle and was thrown from his bike before being pinned under the same car, police said Thursday.The motorcyclist in the incident died as a result of a crash in the 2400 block of Western Avenue at 2:10 p.m. Thursday, Las Vegas Metro police said.

Clark County Coroner's Office identified the rider as 28-year-old Griffith Alexander Grossguth.Metro Sgt. Richard Strader said witnesses reported the motorcyclist was on the wrong side of the road, doing wheelies. At some point, he struck the driver side door of a Chrysler 300, ejected from the bike and run over. Metro said the incident forced the complete closure of Western Avenue, which was shut down for hours.

The driver of the Chrysler was transported to University Medical Center Trauma with minor injuries.Police said the crash marked the fourth traffic-related fatality in Metro's jurisdiction this year.
