Florence, KY : Pedestrian killed after being struck by a car in Florence on Wednesday, February 11, 2015

A man is dead after he was struck by a vehicle in Florence on Wednesday night, officials said.

Authorities closed Houston Road near Ted Bushelman Boulevard to investigate the incident around 11 p.m., Florence police said.

The pedestrian was trying to cross the street when he was struck, according to a news release from the Florence Police Department.

He was not in a crosswalk and was wearing dark clothing, the release states.

No criminal charges have been filed against the driver, police said.

The pedestrian was taken to St. Elizabeth hospital where he died, a Boone County dispatcher said.

His name will be released once family is notified, the release states.

The incident remains under investigation.
