Eaton Township, OH : Five people injured in a four-car accident on Sunday , July 5th , 2015

Police say alcohol may be a factor in a four-car accident that injured five people on Sunday in Eaton Township.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash that occurred just before 3 p.m. on Chestnut Ridge Road in Lorain County.

The first car was driven by a man, 48. He had minor injuries and was taken to University Hospitals Elyria and later flown to MetroHealth Medical Center. He was wearing his seatbelt.

The second car was driven by a man, 60, and had a female passenger, 59. Both of them were not injured and they were both wearing seatbelts.

The third car was being driven by a 17-year-old girl. She was wearing her seatbelt as well and only sustained minor injuries. She was taken to University Hospitals Elyria as well.

The fourth car was being driven by a 31-year-old woman, who was not wearing her seatbelt. She was ejected from the vehicle, taken to University Hospitals Elyria and later flown to MetroHealth Medical Center. Her two passengers were also injured; one was wearing a seatbelt; however, it’s not known if the second passenger was wearing one.

Authorities expect that alcohol use by the 31-year-old may be a factor in the crash as her vehicle ran a red light, which caused the accident to occur.
