Paducah, KY : Three people injured in a crash in McCracken County on Tuesday afternoon, Oct 13, 2015
Three people were injured in a crash in McCracken County, Kentucky on Tuesday afternoon, October 13.
Emergency crews were dispatched to the 4800 block of Reidland Road, which is just past the old "East Y" to Ledbetter.
According to McCracken County Sheriff's Department deputies, a witness called 911 at about 5:03 p.m. after seeing one of the vehicles, a 2002 Dodge Neon, excessively speeding and weaving in and out of traffic prior to the crash.
The driver of the Neon, 22-year-old Charles Tidwell, of Paducah, told deputies that at the time of the crash, he was going around 55-60 mph and that he was in the inside/passing lane.
However, deputies say evidence at the scene, along with witness statements, did not support his claims.
According to deputies, Tidwell was driving at a high rate of speed and was in the outside or slow lane as he went around a curve.
They say Tidwell's car went into a skid and traveled into the outside/passing lane where it collided with the rear of a 1996 Chevrolet pickup driven by 39-year-old Autoine Simmons, of Paducah.
According to Simmons, he was going the posted speed at the time of the crash when his truck was suddenly hit from the rear.
Deputies say Simmons and his passengers, 36-year-old Ellen Simmons, also of Paducah, and 63-year-old Laura Owen, of Ledbetter, refused medical treatment at the scene.
After the scene was cleared, deputies say a follow-up interview was conducted with Tidwell at the hospital.
They say he and his passengers, 20-year-old Tori Bridgees, of Paducah, and her 3-year-old daughter, went to the hospital for apparent minor injuries.
The investigation is ongoing and deputies say charges are expected to be filed.
