Pittsburgh, PA : A multi-vehicle crash on Wednesday, October, 18th 2017
The Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike is a mess due to a multi-vehicle crash.
The accident occurred around 9:30 p.m. in the northbound lanes near mile marker 39, which is between the Lansdale and Quakertown interchanges.
Police said the vehicles, which include two tractor trailers and at least one car, made contact with one of the tractor trailers, partially crossing over into a southbound lane.
All northbound lanes are closed and will remain as such for the foreseeable future. One southbound lane is slowly moving past the scene, just above the Lansdale Interchange.
Plans are underway to establish an alternative route for northbound traffic.
Police said there are at least two injuries, but at this time none appear life threatening.
