Yucca Valley, CA : Pickup truck driver killed and four middle school students injured in two vehicles crash on Friday September25 2015.

A pickup truck driver died and four middle school students were injured Friday after a crash involving two packed school buses and two other vehicles in the Mojave Desert community of Yucca Valley.
The pickup truck driver was dead by the time San Bernardino County firefighters arrived after the 7 a.m. crash, less than a half-mile from La Contenta Middle School, Fire Department spokeswoman Tracey Martinez said.
Photos taken by the Fire Department show the front end of the pickup truck bore the brunt of the collision, with the entire front end a heap of twisted, flattened metal.
Two students who were injured were taken to a hospital, while two others were released to their parents. All their injuries are minor, Martinez said.
There were about 70 students aboard the buses and those who were uninjured were taken to La Contenta Middle School,located just outside of Joshua Tree National Park
The driver of a fourth vehicle involved in the crash was not injured.
The California Highway Patrol and county Sheriff's Department were investigating.
