Bradenton, FL: 22-year-old motorcyclist injured, 83-year-old woman cited in three-vehicle crash on Wednesday, August 5th 2015

Justin Ross was driving along Cortez Road West about 4:10 p.m. Wednesday when a Sarasota motorcyclist a few vehicles ahead of him was sent flying after being hit by a car.The Bradenton mechanic said a woman in a white car was at the median turning left onto 18th Street West when she clipped the front of the bike. She then hit another car -- a tan-colored Toyota Camry driven by another woman.Marie Byrne Sibbio, 83, of Bradenton, was cited for turning left onto oncoming traffic, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Troopers said she failed to see the 22-year-old motorcyclist approaching in the center lane on Cortez Road West."He tried to avoid it but it was too late," Ross said of the motorcyclist. "I was scared for him because I thought he was dead. From seeing him fly up in the air like that and hit the ground, I
thought he was dead -- but he was just hurt."The man suffered serious injuries and was transported to Blake Medical Center, according to FHP. The man had road rash on his hands, Ross said, and a nurse nearby said he had a broken femur. After the collision, FHP troopers said Sibbio continued northwest toward a Toyota Camry stopped at a stop sign on 18th Street West and hit its left side.Debris from the accident littered the middle of 18th Street West where the motorcycle was propped upright after
the collision. It was later towed by Bradenton-based Top Gun Towing.A half-empty windshield washer reservoir was on the curb along with the bumper of the white vehicle involved in the crash. The vehicle was later towed by TGT.When he saw the accident, Ross said he pulled over to help the motorcyclist who was soon surrounded by others wanting to see if he was OK.
