GASTONIA, NC : 2 charter buses carrying Upstate students involved in crash on I-85 on Friday, 26th April 2024

The School District of Pickens County said two charter buses were involved in a crash while heading to Carowinds Friday morning.

According to the school district,the buses carrying 85 students from Gettys Middle School and 21 chaperones were on I-85 in Gaston County when the back bus rear-ended the bus in front of it.

One of the bus drivers and five students were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. District officials said the students are being checked out by medical professionals due to complaints of soreness.
