Athol,MA : Driver of car in fatal crash arraigned , faces nine charges on May, Friday 18th 2018
Jay Pressley, 28, was arraigned in Orange District Court Friday morning on nine charges, including manslaughter, in connection with the fatal crash that occurred on South Athol Road on Mother’s Day, claiming the life of one of his passengers.
Pressley, of Orange, was arrested Thursday and charged with the following: manslaughter, manslaughter by motor vehicle, motor vehicle homicide by OUI and negligence, OUI causing serious bodily injury, OUI liquor, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, marked lanes violation and speeding.
Pressley and another unidentified person in the car were sent to the hospital with serious injuries after the Nissan Altima he was driving flipped onto its roof after crashing into a tree at about 8:30 p.m. on May 13. Gage, 26, of Athol was ejected from the car and later died.
Police responded to the scene around 8:40 p.m.
An agreement between “the parties,” according to the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office, was made to hold Pressley without bail without prejudice, but he can request bail at a later date.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation by the Massachusetts State Police.
Pressley is due back in court June 25.
