St. Augustine, FL : Woman hospitalized after crashing into patrol cars on Interstate 95 in St. Johns County on Wednesday morning, September 24, 2014
Two Florida Highway Patrol troopers looking into a traffic accident on Interstate 95 in St. Johns county had a close call Wednesday morning when a car came crashing into their patrol cars.
Traffic had slowed near the scene of a crash on I-95 near mile marker 315 about 7:30 a.m. when a white Nissan Maxima driven by Jessica Nash of Palm Coast rear-ended a slowed BMW and careened into the back of a FHP patrol car parked in the left emergency lane, according to FHP. The impact propelled the patrol car into a second patrol car, troopers said.
Nash, 31, was taken to UF Health Jacksonville with life-threatening injuries. At last check about 2:30 p.m., she was still listed in critical condition, hospital staff told First Coast News.
Meanwhile, the first trooper hit was taken to Flagler Hospital to be checked out for minor injuries. The other trooper and the driver of the BMW were not hurt, according to FHP.
