Glencoe, AL : Ohatchee woman died after a single-vehicle crash early Sunday, Nov 1, 2015

A single-vehicle crash early Sunday killed an Ohatchee woman, according to a press release from the Alabama State Troopers.

The release says Krista Simpson Pitts, 44, died when the 2011 Chevrolet Camaro in which she was a passenger left the roadway and went into a creek. The crash took place at 2:10 a.m. Sunday on Gilberts Ferry Road, 5 miles south of Glencoe.

The Camaro was driven by Juan Cayetano Nava, 43, Anniston.

Pitts was pronounced dead at the scene. Details about Nava's condition were not made available.

According to the release, the preliminary investigation revealed alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.
