Mansfield, MA : Man seriously injured in Mansfield intersection crash early Sunday morning, March 26, 2017
A driver was seriously injured early Sunday morning when his car went airborne, hit a boulder and then a van near the intersection of West and Plain streets, police said.
Town police responded to a crash at 1700 West St. around 1:20 a.m. Sunday, where they found a white sedan on its side and the operator still in the vehicle.
Mansfield police and fire had to cut through the windshield of the car to remove the man, who was transported to Rhode Island Hospital. His identity and condition were not available.
Police said a preliminary investigation revealed the driver was traveling on Plain Street and failed to stop at the intersection, where he crossed into West Street, struck a boulder, flipped into the air and hit a van parked in the driveway of 1700 West St.
Police were not releasing the man’s name pending an ongoing investigation.
