Clayton, DE : One seriously injured after car wreck on Holletts Corner Road in Clayton on Sunday, Nov 1, 2015

Delaware police say a man is in critical condition after an early-morning car wreck in Clayton.

Police say the crash occurred at about 4:15 a.m. on Sunday when 29-year-old Jesus Manuel Ayala-Rivera was driving a Toyota Tercel on Holletts Corner Road. Police say Ayala-Rivera lost control of the car as he tried to negotiate a sharp turn, and slid off the roadway. The car overturned in a ditch.

Police say a passerby called the police after spotting Ayala-Rivera on the side of the road. Police say he was airlifted to a hospital.

Police say both alcohol and speed may have played a role in the wreck.
