Alden, N.Y : Florida man killed in crash in western New York on Thursday, June 19, 2014

Authorities say a Florida man is dead and another is hospitalized after they were involved in a two-vehicle crash in western New York.

The Erie County Sheriff's Office says 80-year-old Thomas Luche of Mount Dora, Florida failed to yield the right of way around 10 a.m. Thursday at an intersection in the town of Alden, 20 miles east of Buffalo.

His car was hit by a sport utility vehicle driven by a 43-year-old Attica woman.

Deputies say Luche was taken to Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo, where he was pronounced dead. His passenger, 70-year-old Griffith Warrick of Leesburg, Florida, is in serious but stable condition at the same hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.
