WOODS CROSS, UT : A North Salt Lake man is dead after a motorcycle crash on Wednesday, August 9, 2017

A North Salt Lake man is dead after a motorcycle crash on Highway 89 in Woods Cross Wednesday evening.

The man who died in the crash was identified as Peter Scott Howey, 24, according to a tweet from the Woods Cross Police Department.

The crash occurred around 10:17 p.m. Wednesday near 2600 S. Highway 89, according to Bountiful emergency dispatch.

A tweet from the Bountiful Police department said a medical helicopter was called to the scene of the crash.

FOX13 reported that responders attempted to revive Howey with CPR, but he died at the scene.

Police told KSL that Howey was wearing a helmet and protective gear at the time of the crash.

As of Thursday morning, Woods Cross Police were not able to say what caused the crash. Police told FOX13 they do not believe that weather conditions or mechanical problems were factors in the crash.

It was also unclear when the intersection was opened back up to traffic.
