Phoenix, AZ : One killed when vehicle involved in drug investigation collides with another in northwest Phoenix on Monday, Oct 19, 2015
Phoenix police have identified a Phoenix man fatally injured when a car driven by a suspect under surveillance in a drug investigation collided with the victim's car.
Phoenix Sgt. Trent Crump says Tempe police were tailing the suspect in northwest Phoenix late Monday when an officer tried to make a traffic stop of the suspect's car.
According to Crump, the suspect's car pulled over but then drove off at high speed before colliding at a nearby intersection with a car driven by 58-year-old Henry Tamayo, who later died at a hospital.
Crump says the Tempe officer saw the collision, drove up to the scene and detained the suspect.
He was hospitalized for non-life-threatening injuries and his name won't be released until he's released from the hospital and booked into jail.
