Suburban Grand Rapids Man Killed in US-31 Crash on Grand Rapids Michigan

A 57-year-old suburban Grand Rapids man died in a two-vehicle accident on Holland’s North Side last night.According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Steve Austin, Jeffrey Howell of Wyoming was driving his car eastbound on James Street and had stopped for a red light at US-31. Howell then drove into the intersection against the signal and into the path of a southbound semi, driven by 41-year-old Ronnie Henry.The trucker from Georgia was going at full speed on the green light and couldn’t avoid broadsiding the automobile. Rescue crews extricated the unbuckled Howell from his vehicle, and he was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ottawa County Medical Examiner’s Office; Henry was wearing his seat belt and was not hurt.The crash remains under investigation.
