Albany, OR : 1 dead, 2 hurt after cars collide head-on in fog on Monday evening, January 26, 2015

A wrongway driver hit an oncoming car in the fog Monday evening, killing one person and sending two others to the hospital, Oregon State Police said.

Troopers believe limited visibility due to darkness and foggy conditions may have played a factor in this crash.
Police Said Nancy L. Cavalo, 66, of Halsey was northbound in the southbound lanes of Highway 99E shortly after 6 p.m.

Cavalo's car collided head-on with a southbound Mazda MZ3.

A Ford Edge southbound behind the Mazda hit with the Pontiac in a second impact after the head-on with the Mazda.

Medics rushed Cavalo to Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis. She was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The driver of the Ford - Richard J. Olson, 55, of Junction City - was seriously injured and taken to Albany Hospital then transferred to Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis.

A pregnant woman in the Mazda was transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend, where she was treated and released.

The investigation is ongoing and the reason why the Pontiac was not in its lane is undetermined.
