we advised you that I-40 near mile marker 102 was shut down temporarily due to a major accident involving numerous semi trucks and one passenger car.
When one semi slowed down due to poor visibility during a dust storm, two other semi trucks ran into the back of him, causing the third to catch on fire. A fourth semi swerved left to avoid hitting the pile-up, and a fifth semi swerved to the right, and instead hit an SUV that had pulled off the road door to the lack of visibility.

A 2007 Kenworth semi, driven by Gakhal Rupinder Singh, 30, of Los Banos, Calif., was driving eastbound as a windstorm pushed into the area. The storm caused dust to blow across I-40, resulting in impaired visibility, DPS said. Singh lowered his speed and continued eastbound.

A 2009 Freightliner semi, driven by Roger Marlon Golden, 50, of Springfield, Mo., was also driving eastbound, saw the vehicles and swerved to the left to avoid hitting Newson from behind.
