A 26-year-old man died Monday morning following a hit-and-run crash last weekend in West Philadelphia, police said.
Jamal Morris, of Philadelphia, was riding his bike near 45th and Market streets early Saturday morning when he was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene, police said.
Emergency personnel who responded to the area around 3:47 a.m. initially thought the man had been assaulted, police said, but further examination at Penn-Presbyterian Medical Center determined he had been hit by a vehicle.
The man's damaged bicycle was found on the side of the road but police said "there was no physical evidence on the roadway to identify what type of vehicle" struck him.
Morris died at 10:10 am. on Monday, police said.
