DAVENPORT, IA : Worker killed in I-80 accident identified on April, Monday 3rd 2017
A highway maintenance worker is dead following an accident on Interstate 80 late Monday night.
At about 10:40 p.m. Monday, Davenport Police, Davenport Fire and EMS were sent to eastbound I-80 just east of the I-74 overpass for a multi-vehicle accident. Officers found that a pickup truck being operated by an employee of Hawkeye Paving, which was doing maintenance work on the roadway, backed into the traveled portion of eastbound I-80 and was stuck by a semi.
As a result of the accident, the driver of the pickup suffered fatal injuries.
Killed was Jacklyn Ferguson, 54, from New Windsor. The driver of the semi, who has not been named, was transported by EMS to the hospital for injuries not considered to be life-threatening.
An investigation into the accident is being conducted by the Traffic Safety Unit of the Davenport Police Department.
