Lubbock,TX : DPS troopers seek tractor-trailer that fled after Lubbock County motorcycle crash on may, Wednesday 24th 2017
Texas Department of Public Safety troopers were searching for a tractor trailer after investigators believe it fled from a motorcycle crash Wednesday evening just south of Idalou. The crash was reported about 6 p.m. on FM 400 north of FM 40, according to DPS Sgt. John Gonzalez.
“Two motorcycles were traveling northbound on FM 400,” he said, “and a semi tractor trailer was traveling southbound.”
Gonzalez said the front motorcyclist observed the tractor trailer cross the center stripe, and it took evasive action to avoid a collision.
The second motorcyclist, Neal Patrick Mahon, 21, of Colorado also took evasive action avoiding the tractor-trailer, but lost control and laid the motorcycle on its side.
The tractor-trailer continued southbound, and the vehicle was only identified by the trailer; which was a flatbed trailer with a load either covered by a tarp or black box-like load.
Gonzalez said Mahon was taken to University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Anyone with information about the tractor-trailer is urged to call the DPS office at (806) 740-8701.
The crash remained under investigation late Wednesday.
