WASHINGTON, MD : Driver charged after fatal crash in DC on Saturday, 29th October 2016
District of Columbia police say a driver has been charged with involuntary manslaughter after a crash that killed another driver in northeast Washington.
Police say 31-year-old Timothy Johnson of Seat Pleasant, Maryland, was speeding and crossed a double-yellow line when his car hit another car on Eastern Avenue Saturday afternoon.
Police said in a news release that Johnson's vehicle flipped over and hit a utility pole. Police say he tried to run away from the scene but was quickly arrested.
The car that was hit by Johnson's car ended up hitting two parked cars. Police say the driver of that vehicle, 50-year-old Kim Moore of Bladensburg, Maryland, was taken to a hospital, where she died.
Four other people suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
It was not immediately clear whether Johnson had an attorney.
