FAIRFIELD, CA : Fairfield infant ejected from car in Butte County crash on Monday, January 30th 2017
The 1-year-old child of Fairfield resident Jacob L. Aguilar-Price, 21, was ejected from the vehicle his father was driving early Saturday on Highway 70 in Butte County, the California Highway Patrol said.
The child, who is believed to have sustained serious injuries, was improperly restrained in the front seat with a seat belt draped over him, according to a CHP statement about the crash in the Oroville area.
The Marysville Police Department later reported the 1999 Oldsmobile Alero as stolen, according to the CHP.
Aguilar-Price was southbound on Highway 70 near Georgia Pacific Way at about 3:35 a.m. when for unknown reasons he allowed the vehicle to drift into the gravel portion of the center median and lost control, skidding across southbound lanes and overturning, the CHP reports.
The child was transported by helicopter to the University of California, Davis, Medical Center in Sacramento.
An ambulance transported Aguilar-Price, who was seat belted, to the Oroville Medical Center where he was arrested and admitted for treatment of his injuries, authorities report.
The collision and several criminal allegations – including auto theft, felony driving under the influence and felony child endangerment – are under investigation, the CHP said.
