Bloomer Township, MI : 2 Michigan kids critically injured after buggy crash on Fenwick Road near Miner Road on Wednesday, March 15, 2017

Two children are in critical condition at a Grand Rapids hospital when the buggy they were riding in was hit by an SUV.

Police reported to the crash just before 8 a.m. Wednesday, March 15, on Fenwick Road near Miner Road, according to a Montcalm County news release.

The children, a 13-year-old and 10-year-old from Carson City, were taken to an area hospital before being flown by Aero Med helicopter to Grand Rapids' Helen DeVos Children's Hospital.

Police identified the driver of the SUV as 23-year-old Tiffany Christiansen of Hubbarston, Mich.; she and her 5-year-old passenger were not hurt.

It's not believed speed is a factor in the crash, however, the angle of the bright sun might have impacted the driver's vision.

The horse, also seriously injured, was euthanized by its owners.
