Hamshire, TX : Winnie man died in a crash near Craigen Road on Wednesday night, December 14, 2016

A Winnie man died Wednesday night in a crash that left him trapped in his car, the Texas Department of Safety said in a press release.

David Ray Rodriguez, 22, was traveling southbound on Texas 124 when he traveled off the roadway and hit a guardrail at around 10:30 p.m., said Texas DPS spokesperson Sgt. Stephanie Daivis. Rodriguez's 2006 Chevrolet pickup crashed near Craigen Road, located between Hamshire and Fannett.

Personnel worked for an hour to extricate him from the vehicle, Davis said.
Rodriguez was pronounced dead at the scene by Judge Ray Chesson, Davis said.
An investigation about the crash ins ongoing.
