EASTBROOK, ME : Sullivan man killed in Eastbrook crash on April, Sunday 2nd 2017
A Sullivan man died and two other people were seriously injured in a rollover crash on Route 200 in the town of Eastbrook the Maine State Police reported Sunday.
Lt. Rod Charette said that Kirk Chandler, 24, was pronounced dead at the scene.
There were three people in the 2008 Ford Focus, which had been traveling southbound when it failed to negotiate a sharp right corner and went off the road, hitting an embankment and then a utility pole before rolling over, Charette said. Two of the vehicle’s occupants were ejected. It doesn’t appear anyone was wearing seatbelts, the lieutenant said.
Chase Debeck, 25, of Eastbrook was transported by LifeFlight to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor with serious injuries.
Also in the car was Maryah Sprague, 19, of Winter Harbor. Sprague was transported to Maine Coast Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.
“It appears that speed and alcohol were factors,” Charette said. “The crash is still under investigation.”
Police did not identify which occupant was driving the car.
Assisting at the scene were the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, Ellsworth Police Department, Eastbrook, Waltham and Franklin fire departments, Peninsula Ambulance and County Ambulance.
