Dant County, MO : Gerhard Scheer, 73, killed and two people injured in motorcycle crash with pickup truck at Highway 68 and Highway U in Dent County on Monday, Aug 3, 2015

One man is dead and a woman is seriously injured after a crash between a truck and motorcycle in Dent County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the driver of a 2003 Chevrolet pickup truck was attempting to cross Highway 68 and Highway U when the vehicle crossed into the path of a 1998 Honda motorcycle at around 2:30 p.m. Monday. Troopers say the motorcycle, driven by 73-year-old Gerhard Scheer of Owensville, struck the passenger side of the truck.

Scheer died at a Salem hospital. His female passenger was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Both riders were wearing helmets, according to the Patrol. The 16-year-old driver of the truck sustained minor injuries.
