ST. ALBANS, VT : Vermont man pleads guilty in fatal hit-and-run on Monday, December 19th 2016

A Vermont man has pleaded guilty in connection with a hit-and-run that killed a 54-year-old pedestrian just over a year ago.

The St. Albans Messenger reports that 31-year-old Luke Loiselle, of Highgate, entered the plea Monday in St. Albans City to leaving the scene of a fatal crash and obstructing justice.

He faces two to 21 years behind bars, a sentence he would concurrently serve with an existing two- to 15-year sentence for burglary.

Loiselle has been jailed since his arrest last December. Authorities say he hit David Miller with his car as Miller was walking east along the shoulder of state Route 78 in Highgate.

Miller’s body was discovered by a passing motorist in a ditch.
