Sherwood, OH : Three-vehicle crash at Ohio 18 intersection on Tuesday evening, April 12, 2016

Troopers with the Defiance post of the Ohio Highway Patrol are investigating a three-vehicle that occurred Tuesday evening.

The crash occurred at approximately 7:35 p.m. at the intersection of Ohio 18 and Bend Road in Defiance County’s Delaware Township when a truck driven by Michael Bittinger collided with a semi driven by David Covell, 32, Blissfield, Mich. An eastbound semi driven by Christopher Owens, 39, Adrian, Mich., then struck debris that fell from Covell’s semi.

Bittinger was transported by Delaware Township Fire Department to ProMedica Defiance Regional Hospital, where a condition update was unavailable. Damage was heavy to Bittinger’s vehicle and light to both semis.

Assisting at the scene were Noble Township Fire Department, The Defiance County Sheriff’s office and Defiance County HAZMAT, which assisted with a fuel spill. The crash remains under investigation.
