Authorities have identified a 90-year-old man who was fatally struck by a car in Westchester Country as a longtime area music teacher.

Police say Hercules Faranda died Sunday after being struck on Washington Avenue in Pleasantville.

The Journal News says Faranda was a musician who taught flute, saxophone and clarinet. Some of his students went on to be professional musicians, like Joe Mennonna.

Mennonna says he remembers meeting famous jazz musicians John "Zoot" Sims, Buddy Rich and Stan Getz through his teacher.

Mennonna went on to work with Deep Purple and the Bacon Brothers, a band featuring actor Kevin Bacon and his brother Michael.

Authorities did not release any other details about the accident.
