Chesterfield County , SC : 46-year-old Randy Gainey killed in motorcycle accident on Monday night, June 29th 2015

A man was killed in a motorcycle accident in Chesterfield County late Monday night, officials say.

Highway patrol says 46-year-old Randy Gainey was driving a 2013 Harley Davidson around 10 p.m. on Wilkes Chapel Church Road when the motorcycle ran off the side of the road and hit an embankment.

Gainey was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries. Officials say he was not wearing a helmet.

The crash happened about four miles south of the town of Patrick, where Gainey was from. No other people or vehicles were involved in the accident.

Officials have not said if speed or alcohol contributed to the crash.
