Gainesville, FL : Alachua man killed in U.S. 441 crash on Tuesday afternoon, April 4, 2017
A 55-year-old Alachua man who drove off U.S. 441 Tuesday afternoon died when his vehicle hit a tree, Gainesville Police reported.
Theodore Williard Roberts died in the 12:41 p.m. crash in the 7000 block of U.S. 441 north of Gainesville.
Roberts was driving north, lost control and left the road. The vehicle hit a tree and overturned.
The driver was ejected and died at the scene, GPD spokesman Ben Tobias wrote in a news release. A full traffic homicide investigation is underway. A portion of the road was closed for a few hours while the on-scene investigation was completed.
