Deer River, MN : 2 dead in crash near Deer River on Wednesday, 19th December 2018
Two people were killed Wednesday evening when their car collided head-on with a semitrailer truck northwest of Deer River.
Steven Kubiszewski, 34, of Wyoming, Minn., and his uncle, Arthur Kubiszewski, 57, of Chisago City, Minn., died when their 2011 Chevrolet Impala struck the semi, the Minnesota State Patrol reported.
The crash occurred just before 6 p.m. along Minnesota Highway 46 near Itasca County Road 39, about 11 miles northwest of Deer River.
According to the State Patrol, the semitrailer was southbound on Minnesota Highway 46 when it struck the side of a 2014 Ford F250 pickup truck traveling north. The semitrailer then collided head-on with the Impala, which had been driving behind the Ford truck.
The Ford truck's occupants, Jake Perrington, 39, and Jack Perrington, 14, both of Deer River were uninjured, as was the semi driver, Jason Evans, 47, of Deer River.
Road conditions at the time of the crash included snow and ice, the Patrol reported. The cause of the crash, including which vehicle crossed the centerline, remains under investigation.
