Celina,OH : Local woman dies in crash on December, Friday 1st 2017
A 72-year-old New Bremen woman died this morning after an accident at the intersection of state routes 219 and 364, according to the Wapakoneta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Sandra Vondenhuevel was reportedly driving a 2012 Chevrolet sedan northbound on State Route 364 at about 6:20 a.m., when she reportedly failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection with State Route 219, according to the release.
Vondenhuevel's car was then reportedly struck by a 2010 Honda minivan driven by Nancy Geier, 61, Celina, who was driving eastbound on State Route 219.
Vondenhuevel, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was transported to Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys, where she was pronounced dead, according to the news release.
Geier, who was wearing a seatbelt, reportedly was transported to St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, for serious, non-life-threatening injuries.
The patrol was assisted on the scene by St. Marys Township Fire and EMS and St. Marys City EMS.
The intersection was closed for a period of time this morning after the accident, according to an Ohio State Highway Patrol spokesperson.
The roadways were cleared by about 9:30 a.m.
