Sandusky, OH : Two Willard men die in Saturday accident on Saturday, 24th September 2016
The crash occurred on Bullhead Road just west of Paul Road in Richmond Township, Huron County. The crash occurred about 5:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24.
Damien Lindsey, age 21, of Willard was driving a 2005 Dodge 2500 pickup truck eastbound on Bullhead Road, Austin Collins, age 21, of Willard was a passenger in the truck.
Lindsey was traveling eastbound on Bullhead Road and drove off the south side of the road and into the ditch, the truck then came back onto the roadway and overturned several times on the roadway, before coming to final rest on its top in the eastbound lane. Neither Lindsey and Collins were wearing their seat belts and were ejected from the truck. Lindsey was pronounced deceased at the scene and Collins was transported from the scene by Willard EMS to Willard Mercy Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
On his Facebook page, Lindsey stated that he worked at Pepperidge Farms and that Willard was his hometown and current residence. Collins’ Facebook page says that he graduated from Willard High School in 2014.
Speed was a contributing factor in the crash which remains under investigation, the highway patrol said.
Assisting agencies included Willard Fire and EMS, Clark Brothers Towing, and the Huron County Coroner’s Office.
