Separate Crashes Kill 2, Including Pregnant Woman

Two persons, including a pregnant woman, were killed when a speeding BMW crashed into their Tata Indigo car near IFFCO towers in Sector 29, Gurgaon, on Saturday afternoon.Police said four persons were injured in the accident, of these three were in the Indigo and one was an occupant of the BMW.The Indigo, police said, was coming from the Leisure Valley area and the BMW from the Huda City Centre Metro station. The BMW crashed into the side of the Indigo, which rolled over a few times."We are investigating whose fault it was. We are waiting for medical reports to ascertain if this is a case of drink driving and if the woman who died in the accident was pregnant," said Maheshwar Dayal, DCP (East).Sanjay Gulati (42), the driver of Indigo, and Shama Chopra (30), who was in the passenger seat, died on the spot.The injured have been identified as Rajendra Chopra (68), Veena Chopra (65) and Sailesh Sethi (32) — who were in the Indigo. Dakshesh Jaiswal, a B Com student, who was in the BMW, was the fourth injured.Police said the engines, batteries and other equipment of the two cars were spread over a distance of 30 metres.The injured have been taken to Max Hospital and the condition of the Indigo occupants is reported to be critical. They are all residents of Malviya Nagar, South Delhi, and the car is registered with Accenture company.Police said there were two persons in the BMW, but have not identified its driver yet. The injured BMW occupant, police said, is not in the condition to give a statement.The car is registered to one Devendra Sherawat, a property dealer who is a resident of Sector 14."We heard a loud noise and saw the car dragged. I had just finished filling CNG in my auto. After I heard the sound, I rushed to the spot. Others had already reached the car and were bringing out the women. We took the injured to the Max Hospital. The car was moving at a very high speed," said Sanjay, an eyewitness.
