Hernando, MS : Woman and child died in Fatal multiple vehicle crash shuts down I-55 in DeSoto County on Thursday, Aug 20, 2015

A woman and a child are dead after a fiery crash in Hernando, Mississippi Thursday.

DeSoto County Sheriff Bill Rasco said a UPS truck and an SUV collided and exploded.

Southbound lanes on I-55 are shut down from Commerce Street to the DeSoto/Tate County line near the Coldwater bridge. Only one lane is open.

The UPS driver is okay and the identities of the mother and child have not been released. The mother and child were from out of town.
