Delaware County, OH : Man, woman injured after crash in Berlin Twp., on Sunday afternoon, April 9, 2017

A two-vehicle crash caused serious injuries to a couple Sunday afternoon.

Kelly M. Mantz, 37, Seville, was driving a 2016 Ford Fusion south on Ohio 61 at 5:09 p.m. when she failed to stop for a stop sign at the Ohio 113 intersection and collided with an eastbound 1993 Honda motorcycle being driven by Eric P. Tillman, 47, of Elyria, said troopers with the state Highway Patrol’s Sandusky post.

The impact of the motorcycle hitting the passenger’s side of the car caused the bike to overturn, ejecting Tillman and his wife, Cynthia J. Tillman, 45. Both occupants came to a final rest off the roadway, near the southeast corner of the intersection.

The bike came to rest in the road, south of the intersection with Ohio 113, troopers said.

The Ford Fusion, meanwhile, spun around and also came to rest on Ohio 61 south of Ohio 113.

Eric Tillman, who was wearing a helmet, sustained incapacitating injuries and was flown by a LifeFlight helicopter to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo.

Cynthia Tillman, whose helmet use is unknown, also sustained incapacitating injuries. She was flown from the crash scene via a Pro Medica Air and Mobile helicopter to Pro Medica Toledo Hospital.

Mantz was not injured in the crash. Her passenger Skyelar M. Mantz, 16, of Seville, sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene. Both had been wearing seat belts.

Their car, which sustained disabling damage, was towed from the scene by Perkins Towing.

The motorcycle was towed by L & M Towing.

Alcohol or drug involvement is not suspected, and no charges have been filed as the crash remains under investigation, troopers said.

Assisting agencies included Berlin Twp Fire/EMS, Pro Medica Air and Mobile, St. Vincent’s Life Flight, North Central EMS, Erie County Sheriff’s Office and the Berlin Heights Police Department.
