Erie, PA : Erie crash on Thursday, 27th December 2018

Erie police have arrested two suspects in a motor vehicle theft case accused of eluding officers Wednesday night and causing a crash.

Edna Rodriguez, 31, was arrested Wednesday night on suspicion of aggravated motor vehicle theft and theft of less than $50. John Montez, 38, was arrested Thursday morning on suspicion of the same charges.

According to Erie police Cmdr. Mike Haefele, officers saw a Chevy Malibu around 10:15 p.m. that had been reported stolen out of Longmont.

The driver, suspected to be Montez, ran a red light at South Briggs Street and Erie Parkway, crashing into another car. Both Montez and Rodriguez then fled on foot, according to Haefele.

The driver of the other vehicle refused medical treatment at the scene.
