Williston, FL : Former Marion County deputy killed in motorcycle crash in Levy County early Sunday morning, Nov 1, 2015
A former Marion County Sheriff's deputy was killed in a motorcycle accident early Sunday morning in Levy County.
Deputy Tevyn Gadson, 22, was riding a 2000 Yamaha motorcycle north on CR-331-A in Williston around 3 a.m. at an unsafe speed when he came up behind a golf cart and hit it.
That collision sent him and the four occupants of the golf cart in all directions, before eventually striking a utility pole.
The occupants of the golf cart, Lawrence Heath, 20, Cedrick Brooks, 20, Danielle Dallas, 18, and a young girl were all seriously injured.
Rescue workers transported all five people to UF Health in Gainesville, where Gadson was pronounced dead.
The Marion County Sheriff's Office released this statement on Facebook:
"We regret to inform you that this morning, the Marion County Sheriff's Office received news of a vehicle accident that took the life of 22-year-old Tevyn Gadson. We are extremely saddened by this news and on behalf of Sheriff Chris Blair and the men and women of the Sheriff’s Office, we offer our sincere condolences to his family and loved ones during this difficult time."
