Maryland State Police said a man died Sunday in Laurel after driving his SUV on the shoulder of Interstate 95 and hitting a parked car.
The man, who has not been identified, drove a red Ford Explorer southbound along the highway’s shoulder. Around 8:24 p.m., he struck a vehicle parked in the shoulder near Route 198, police said.
Authorities said the parked vehicle had been unattended.
State police said the Explorer driver died in an ambulance on the way to a hospital. He had no wallet or ID, and police said investigators are working on identifying him through fingerprints. He was the sole occupant of the SUV.
The accident forced lane closures in the Laurel area of Prince George’s County for several hours Sunday night.
