Las Vegas, NV : 37-year-old injured in vehicle-bicycle crash that on Las Vegas Boulevard near Spring Mountain Road on Monday, Aug 3, 2015

Authorities say a 37-year-old bicyclist was badly hurt when he was struck from behind by a Ford Mustang in a crash that closed a central part of the Las Vegas Strip for several hours.

Police Detective Kenneth Salisbury says Matthew Hunt of Las Vegas was taken to Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center in critical condition after the 8 a.m. Monday crash on Las Vegas Boulevard near Spring Mountain Road.

Salisbury says another bicyclist riding near Hunt wasn't struck by the vehicle and wasn't hurt.

The driver of the Mustang, 23-year-old Breanna Jimeno, remained at the scene.

The area remained closed for more than four hours while police investigated.

A cause wasn't immediately made public.
