Salem, OR : 2 boys injured in black ice crash in Woodburn on Friday, December 16th 2016
cy roads caused a two-vehicle crash that critically injured one boy and hospitalized several others near Woodburn Friday afternoon, officials said.
A vehicle traveling northbound on Highway 99E hit a patch of black ice, crossed into southbound traffic and collided with another vehicle.
Several children were riding in one the vehicles, according to Woodburn police. One of the children, a 7-year-old boy, was ejected during the crash. He sustained head and spinal injuries and was flown to Oregon Health & Science University.
An 11-year-old boy was also taken to OHSU with unknown injuries. Several adult passengers traveling in the southbound vehicle suffered unknown injuries in the crash. They were transported to Salem Health hospital by ambulance.
The crash closed both directions of Highway 99E for several hours. Marion County Sheriff's Office deputies and the Oregon State Police traffic crash team assisted at the scene.
