Abilene, TX : 54-year-old woman died in a single-vehicle wreck on Thursday afternoon, June 16, 2016

A 54-year-old Abilene woman died Thursday afternoon at Hendrick Medical Center from injuries received in a single-vehicle wreck, according to the Abilene Police Department.

Police identified the woman as Vicki Harris.

The wreck occurred shortly before 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Danville and Southwest Drive.

According to an APD news release, Harris' vehicle was traveling north on Danville when it veered left over the curb and into the grass.

The vehicle traveled a short distance before it veered back onto the roadway, crossed both lanes of traffic and struck a signal light. The impact knocked the signal light out of operation and caused parts of the vehicle to hit another vehicle.

The Abilene Fire Department used hydraulic rescue equipment to free Harris who was taken to Hendrick Medical Center.

The wreck remains under investigation.
