ALTURAS, CA : A 14-year-old boy is dead and two juveniles injured after a UTV crash on Friday June 9, 2017

A 14-year-old boy is dead and two juveniles injured after a UTV crash Friday night on a ranch near Canby, Calif.

The Modoc County Sheriff’s Office received a 9-1-1 call at about 11:55 p.m. from the victim’s mother stating that her son flipped their UTV and was not responding.

Fire and EMS were immediately dispatched to the scene and the 14-year-old was transported to Modoc Medical Center where he later died.

Deputies learned from talking with witnesses that the three boys were riding the UTV back toward the families’ residence on a gravel road when the driver lost control and the UTV rolled over. Two juvenile passengers that were riding in the UTV suffered minor injuries in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
